Three years ago, Celine, Layla’s mother, went missing from the animal rescue center. Every year on her birthday, Layla comes to the center to wait for her. One birthday, Daisy, an old dog, brought Celine’s blue-starred scarf in her mouth, and Nova, the elephant, actually told Layla to “go find the blue box.” From then on, Layla was able to understand what the animals were thinking. Vance approached the center under the guise of a foundation donation, secretly carrying the Blue Star symbol, in an attempt to take over the center and relocate the animals. Layla teamed up with Daisy, Nova, Modi, Ravi, and Pip to form the “Animal Detective Squad” to investigate the blue box, the whistle, B-07, and the Star Blue Research Center. She gradually discovers that her father, Adrian, has been hiding the truth, and that her mother, Celine, in order to protect her, voluntarily infiltrated Vance’s “North Star Project” only to be controlled by a collar and held captive. Ultimately, Layla’s family and the animals storm the North Star, deactivate the collars, and rescue Celine, while Vance is arrested. However, at the end, Tessa discovers the message “Subject Layla, Phase Two Initiated,” indicating that a new conspiracy is still looming.
