Chloe was originally the fiancée of Dante, the king of the mafia, but she fled on their wedding day out of horror at the terrifying rumors circulating about him. Her vicious stepfather threatened to pull the plug on their adoptive mother's ventilator, forcing Lily to take her older sister's place and marry Dante. Forced into a wedding dress, Lily completed the whole wedding ceremony overwhelmed by fear. Yet Dante soon found this "bride" was nothing like the arrogant and domineering Chloe described in the rumors — she was kind, pure and brave, even daring to stand in front of Dante's gun to protect a maid. As they spent more time together, Dante was gradually moved by Lily's sincerity and began to doubt her real identity. Meanwhile, he realized he had already fallen irredeemably in love with this substitute bride.
