In her first life, Elena spent ten years as Vincent Kane's wife. He was born unable to feel pain or emotion — and ruled New York like it. When she discovered his secret lover, he bombed her family's company, tied her parents between five motorcycles, and pressed the button himself. Elena died. Then she woke up three years earlier. This time, she didn't scream or beg. She filed for divorce, moved her parents overseas, and went to see the other woman for herself. What she found wasn't a schemer. Layla was a mute girl in a leaking church, signing Bible stories to orphans, shielding strangers with her own body. Elena couldn't hate her. She tried to save her instead. But some devils don't need a reason to destroy what they love — and the man who never felt a thing in his life finally learned what pain meant while sitting on a church step, holding a fistful of candy for a girl who would never come back.
