Freya, the eldest daughter of the Silver Dragon clan, lost her mother at an early age and grew up under the cold indifference of her stepmother Selen, her stepsister Laila, and her two elder brothers. At the dragon clan's mate-selection ceremony, her fiancé Adrian — who had long since secretly pledged himself to Laila — schemed with his sister to make her fire orb slip from her grasp, landing on Oberon, a banished slave. Faced with the ridicule of the entire clan, Freya did not back down; she publicly accepted the marriage bond. After their wedding, the two shared a brief, sweet life in a treehouse at the foot of the mountain, while Oberon, hiding his true identity, secretly investigated the dark forces infiltrating the tribe. When Freya returned to her natal family to claim her mother's inheritance, Laila publicly tore out her dragon scales, cut ties with her, and even forced her to throw his reverse scale into the brazier. Freya shielded the reverse scale with her very life, but was branded with grievous wounds. At the critical moment, Oberon descended in his true form — his black dragon form stunned the whole scene — punishing one by one those who had bullied her and exposing the mastermind behind it all. The old Dragon King, recognizing her kind and resilient nature, bestowed on her the title of "Holy Maiden" to preside over the purification ritual. Meanwhile, Celia, the violet-gold dragon who had been betrothed to Oberon since childhood, burned with jealousy: she wounded her companions and sabotaged the trials, and had her engagement annulled on the spot. With no way out, Celia colluded with Laila, who had escaped exile, to secretly tamper with the purification ritual, framing Freya for poisoning the old Dragon King. Amid the fury of the people, Freya was bound to the pyre as a sacrifice. In the flames, she awakened the legendary bloodline of the Dragon Mother; wherever her golden blood flowed, the darkness was purified. Oberon, having pacified the border rebels, rushed back and publicly acknowledged her as his one and only Dragon Queen. Three months passed and Freya had still not awakened; three years later, in that treehouse at the foot of the mountain, she finally spread her silver dragon wings and landed back at his side.
