At the age of seven, Elowen was separated from her parents in a wildfire and, due to trauma-induced amnesia, was adopted by the founder of a medical foundation. Twenty-three years later, she has become a top trauma surgeon and taken over as chairwoman of Sorrell Medical Group. Elowen returns to her hometown to investigate a group project and unexpectedly recognizes Eamon and Maeve, the clinic doctors who have spent twenty-three years searching for her. But Dorian, her childhood playmate and a subordinate in the group, along with his fiancée's family, see her as a poor woman who has come back to latch onto her parents, and they repeatedly humiliate and drive away the elderly couple. Elowen hides her identity, sees everyone's true colors, and finally reveals who she is at a charity gala: she revokes the partnership qualification of the hostile hospital, expands the Darrow Clinic into a nonprofit trauma center, and makes up for the birthday that was left unfinished twenty-three years ago with an apple pie.
