On Thanksgiving Eve, washed-up sports agent Shane obsessed over sports betting at a lakeside campsite. His wife Fiona had explicitly warned him never to feed their son Leo nuts—Leo had a severe peanut allergy. Shane agreed, then distractedly tossed a handful of nuts into the blender while staring at his phone. When his team scored, he rushed out, lost everything gambling, and returned to find Leo dead from anaphylactic shock. Panicked, Shane hid the body in a tent. His mistress Nikki showed up demanding money; Shane gave her Leo's gold bracelet. Fiona returned with her parents and sister, but Shane blocked them from seeing the child. His mother and brother discovered the truth—and the three decided to cover it up, using Shane's affair as a distraction. Fiona's sister Siobhan intercepted them but failed. She secretly hired a hacker to retrieve data from Leo's smart sock. A week later at Shane's agency opening, Nikki exposed the affair. Shane's family accused Nikki of kidnapping Leo. Then Siobhan arrived with the sock data—it recorded Leo's heartbeat stopping at 9:43 PM, the same time Shane placed eleven bets. Faced with evidence, Shane admitted to feeding Leo nuts, claiming it was an accident. Shane took Nikki hostage but was subdued by Siobhan. Nikki announced her pregnancy—unrelated to Shane. Fiona cradled her son's body and walked away, finally letting him rest.
