In a mansion fire, Laila pushes her adopted sister Chloe out from under a falling beam, but is herself pinned by debris. Her biological father, fire chief Eli, favors the frail and sickly Chloe; he tosses Laila a mask and tells her to escape on her own, but Chloe kicks the mask into the flames. To quickly get Chloe out, Eli kicks over a support column, sealing Laila's only exit. Laila dies in the fire, clutching her father's medal, and her spirit lingers—watching Eli abandon her and take a lightly injured Chloe to the hospital. Chloe twists the truth, falsely claiming that Laila had bullied her for years and deliberately pushed her during the fire. Eli believes her and posts online blaming Laila for being unreasonable. On the fourth day after the fire, firefighters recover Laila's charred body from the ruins; half a medal in her arms becomes a key clue. Her biological mother, Eleanor, desperately tries to reach her, but Eli still insists Laila ran away in anger. Her grandparents abroad, believing Chloe's side of the story, freeze Laila's bank account. Eli refuses to accept the truth, but forensic evidence—DNA, the autopsy report, and mask fragments—confirms that Laila died without protective gear and suffered fatal chest injuries from a man‑collapsed cabinet. Police retrieve cloud surveillance and scene analysis, reconstructing the entire sequence: Chloe kicked away the mask and had long framed Laila. When the evidence is presented in court, her grandparents see through the deception and collapse, furiously denouncing and evicting Chloe. The court convicts Chloe of first‑degree murder and sentences her to life in prison; Eli is permanently expelled from the fire service for misconduct, traumatized, and spends his days kneeling in repentance at the ruins of the burned mansion; the grandparents sell their estate and donate the proceeds to fire safety charities to atone. Yet Laila, who has witnessed every perpetrator receive their due, can she truly let go of all earthly resentment and depart in peace—or will that unspoken father‑daughter bond still linger at the edge of the approaching light…?
