Vivian, an orphaned woman known as "Mad Wolf" from Gray Harbor Docks, seeks to uncover the truth behind her sister Lydia’s suspicious "death by illness" at the William estate. To do so, she assumes another’s identity to marry Damian—the head of the most prominent werewolf noble house—becoming stepmother to his two children. Marcus and Vanessa, members of the extended family, covet the position of house head and view Vivian as a thorn in their side. They orchestrate a series of malicious schemes: inciting servants to abuse the twins, Emma and Leo, while framing Vivian; manipulating the matriarch into imposing harsh, restrictive rules; planting a stolen heirloom; and spiking the family’s tonic with "Mad Wolf" herb. Vivian counters every move: she asserts her authority by purging the household of treacherous servants, turns the tables on the matriarch at the crack of dawn, teaches the twins to fight back against school bullies, and presents a damning chain of evidence to the school board. She even cures the "mad" third daughter, Isabella, and publicly exposes the conspiracy—revealing that the couple had been drugging the family for years. Upon infiltrating the basement of the West Wing, she discovers irrefutable proof that her sister had been imprisoned and tortured, and learns the horrific truth: Lydia was silenced with a lethal dose of "Wither-Blood Powder." Driven to desperation, the antagonists kidnap the children to lure Vivian into a trap. Consumed by a surge of long-repressed rage, Vivian awakens her ancient "Pure Alpha" bloodline and exacts a bloody vengeance within the warehouse. When Damian returns with his forces, the overwhelming evidence leads to the couple being stripped of their clan status and banished from Gray Harbor. On the Sea Mist Highway, Vivian personally finishes off her enemies. Far from holding her accountable, Damian recognizes her as his one and only fated mate. As winter fades and the sea mist clears, a long-delayed wedding takes place; the sister’s necklace sways gently alongside a wedding ring—a reminder that kindness, when tempered with a sharp edge, is the only way to truly safeguard one’s gentleness.
