Charlie, a poor but cheerful rabbit-hunting girl, clears rabbits from the estate daily to pay for her grandmother’s medical bills. One day, she accidentally picks up a wounded wolf and mistakes him for a badly bred husky, naming him “Little Black.” With one down-to-earth head-pat, she tames him into a rabbit-hunting dog that works for her. Little Black’s true identity is Huo Ye—the last wolf king, whose name strikes terror into all. Gravely wounded, he planned to swallow this reckless girl whole, only to discover that staying by Charlie’s side restores his fading magic. To survive, the proud wolf king grits his teeth and plays the role of a dog, occasionally transforming into a devastatingly handsome man with eight-pack abs. Wherever Charlie goes—school or work—she brings him along. Scheming girls and rich seniors trying to woo her are all dealt with by Huo Ye’s domineering hand. Gradually, he no longer wants to leave. His mind fills with thoughts like “Why hasn’t she rubbed my belly today?” and “Does that guy who sent her a love letter have a death wish?” Until a mysterious hunter organization launches a massive sneak attack. To protect Charlie, Huo Ye transforms into human form—his disguise completely blown. Shocked but not running, Charlie’s fiercely protective instinct erupts, awakening an ancient hunter bloodline. She pins the arch-villain to the ground and pummels him. With the crisis resolved, the wolf king who should be rebuilding his clan can’t be bothered with the world’s great affairs, trailing after Charlie every day, begging for hugs.
