At my own Mate Claim Ceremony, Cassian rejected me and took my sister Maris’s hand, claiming he only wanted to save her from the Council. Then he tried to rip my dead mother’s moonstone necklace from my neck so Maris could wear it as his chosen Luna. The chain broke. So did the last reason I had to wait for him. In three days, the Council would send me to Rowan Vale, the Lycan king’s dying heir. Everyone pitied me. But Rowan was the first man to ask if I chose him freely.
