Ink made from demon blood, a scroll of a hundred demons: whatever she paints into it, she can copy its form and seize its powers. Jiang Yuechu wakes up one day as a young girl in the golden age of the Tang Dynasty. Under the moon over Chang'an, splendor and decay live side by side; the immortals and Buddhas are gone, and demons roam free. Luckily, every creature she slays raises her cultivation, and every demon she paints into the scroll becomes her own strength: the overbearing blade of the Tiger Mountain God, the keen eyes of the Green-Faced Wolf Lord, the water control of the White Flood Dragon, the crushing might of the Black Mountain Bear Lord. Sometimes even Jiang Yuechu wonders why her powers keep multiplying.
