Twenty-year-old piano student Mia is betrayed by her gambling-addicted boyfriend, Ryan, who offers her as collateral for his debts. In one fateful night, she falls into the hands of Dante Vescari, a ruthless crime lord—and Ryan’s father. After discovering the truth, Dante buys Ryan’s entire debt and pulls Mia into the dangerous Vescari family. Mia hates him for destroying her relationship with Ryan, yet Dante repeatedly protects her with a dangerous, restrained possessiveness. As Ryan and Mia’s jealous best friend Chloe plot to blackmail and publicly humiliate her, Bianca uses Mia to manipulate Dante and uncovers a fifteen-year-old secret: Mia’s father, Daniel Collins, was Dante’s loyal man who died saving him. To protect Mia, Dante is forced into a fake engagement with Bianca, breaking her heart. When Mia becomes pregnant, Ryan and Bianca’s allies attack her at a clinic. Dante wipes out the traitors and takes down Ryan, saving Mia. After surviving betrayal, kidnapping, and revenge, Mia transforms from helpless prey into a woman who can fight for her own destiny. Finally, Dante proposes in a concert hall with a ring forged from his black onyx cufflinks. Through tears, Mia whispers, “Okay, Daddy.” Together, they turn forbidden love into a future—and Mia becomes the true mistress of the Vescari family.
