This is a classic, highly satisfying emotional drama featuring a “toxic husband’s desperate groveling” and a “sober, independent female lead.” On their ninth wedding anniversary, Evelyn discovers her husband, Jack, having an affair with his pregnant secretary, Natalie. Showing no remorse, Jack smashes a wine glass on Evelyn’s head, forces her to kneel in apology to the mistress, and ruthlessly orders 800ml of Evelyn’s blood drawn to treat Natalie, completely ignoring Evelyn’s severe heart condition. Nine years of humble devotion result only in endless humiliation and the heartbreaking sight of Jack abandoning her in a blazing fire to save his mistress. Barely surviving the ordeal, Evelyn’s love completely dies. She leaves behind a signed divorce agreement and the family heirloom, cuts all ties, and escapes to London to start anew. It is only when he completely loses his endlessly forgiving wife that the arrogant CEO finally panics. Jack searches the globe frantically, only to despairingly find Evelyn in London, smiling brighter than ever in the arms of another man, Noah. Driven to madness to win her back, Jack tattoos Evelyn’s symbol on his chest, ruthlessly forces his mistress to abort the baby, and crashes Evelyn’s grand wedding. He kneels on the red carpet sobbing like a stray dog, even stabbing a knife into his own chest to “prove his true heart.” However, belated love is cheaper than dirt. Unmoved by his extreme emotional manipulation and collapse, Evelyn turns away without a second glance, driving off to her honeymoon with Noah—the man who truly cherishes her. Leaving behind nine years of trauma and humiliation, her brilliant new life as an empowered woman has just begun.
