After a car crash, Lena pretends to have lost her memory, hoping to test Nathan, her fiancé of seven years. Instead, Nathan and her adoptive parents David and Susan bury the engagement and insist he has been with her sister Chloe for three years. Overhearing their affair and their scheme to take her inheritance, Lena reaches out to the Stirlings—her birth family—and agrees to marry heir Alex Hawthorne, on two conditions: cut all funding to Nathan's company, and schedule the gala for the eleventh, the day she was meant to wed him. Chloe answers with a poisoned dinner, a planted file, and a rooftop fall where Nathan begs rescuers to save Chloe first. At the gala, Lena is unveiled as the Stirling daughter. She returns the ring, exposes everything, and lets his world crumble.
