Lena, a wealthy medieval winery founder, returns home on Christmas Eve to give back to her town. Her lazy husband Etan has secretly stolen her assets—carriage, ruby ring, silver flute—and given them to his mistress Marie. Marie flaunts fake gold, wrecks Lena's carriage, and turns the town against her, demanding she kneel. Lena uses deeds, church law, and city statutes to expose the fakes, claim nine hundred gold coins, and freeze Etan's assets. At the feast, she reveals herself as the true mistress. Etan takes her mother hostage, but Lena's legal trap voids the contract. Both villains are arrested. The town begs for forgiveness, but Lena has already left—Blackthorn Town loses its chance forever, and only the orphanage's cold lamp mocks the world's greed.
