Marwen, a war correspondent, met Quillon, a mercenary captain, after she was rescued from a kidnapping. The two were married for five years. All this time, Quillon treated her coldly, claiming he suffered from a hidden illness. Though Marwen cared for him devotedly, she endured loneliness alone. By chance, she discovered that Quillon had married her fraudulently as part of a bet with Sorrel, a female military doctor. He had wed her solely to claim credit for rescuing her six years prior. Later, during an attempted assault orchestrated by Sorrel, Quillon took Sorrel’s side, putting Marwen’s life in grave danger. Fortunately, Alaric, the new leader, arrived in time to save Marwen and revealed that he had been the one who actually rescued her during the kidnapping years ago. Marwen finally saw the truth clearly and resolved to file for divorce and pursue accountability. At the trial, Alaric appeared in court with evidence, exposing all of Quillon’s lies. Quillon was ruined. When he tried to harass Marwen, he was shot and rendered sterile by Sorrel. In the end, Marwen stepped out of her trauma, accepted Alaric’s protection, and embarked on a brand-new life.
