At the Sterling Group’s annual meeting, Evan was publicly humiliated by his wife Maya’s assistant, while Maya simply looked on with cold indifference. That same night, Evan withdrew the covert support he had provided to Sterling for five years and calmly signed the divorce papers. Deprived of his protection, the Sterling Group rapidly collapsed. Maya barged into an Aura Group meeting to plead for help, only to be shocked to discover that Evan was the powerful figurehead to whom all the executives bowed in deference. Although she harbored suspicions about Evan’s true standing, her overconfidence caused her to miss her final chance. After the Sterling Group’s capital chain snapped, her mother was evicted from her nursing home; only then did Maya realize that everything she had relied upon was merely an invisible safety net woven by Evan. She discovered evidence at the family factory showing how Evan had safeguarded her grandfather’s core craftsmanship, as well as records proving Kyle’s embezzlement of assets. By the time Kyle faced a reckoning, he had already fallen into a trap Evan had meticulously laid. Just as Maya hoped to beg for Evan’s forgiveness, she discovered that he was proposing to Vera—and that the two of them had already embarked on a new life together.
