Human girl Ella watches her adoptive father murdered in public by the pure-blood countess Victoria. To avenge him, she volunteers to become the personal blood thrall of Caspar, the dreaded Night Lord—using her blood and feigned fragility to make him fall for her. When Victoria returns and catches Ella at the manor, jealousy ignites, and she humiliates the girl at every turn. At the Blood Feast, Ella enacts her gambit: she returns her seal ring, claims she is pregnant, and throws herself into the crocodile swamp. Caspar dives in and saves her, then conspires with the healer Elias to fake her pregnancy. Victoria forges medical records to frame her, summoning the High Witch Lilith to verify the child—but Lilith is secretly Ella's own master, and testifies that the pregnancy is real. Caspar produces the true records, exposing Victoria's forgery and casting her out of the manor. From that night, Caspar's cold heart begins to thaw, and he promises Ella the seat of mistress. But Victoria is not finished. She schemes with the elders for a forced union with Caspar. Ella infiltrates her chambers and wounds her with a silver hairpin, provoking a blood-hunt edict. On the day of the alliance ceremony, Caspar learns Ella is being tortured in the dungeon and races to rescue her—only to hear the healer declare she can never bear a child, sealing Victoria's guilt. When Victoria counters with a recording crystal accusing Ella of conspiracy, the projection plays her own dark magic instead: her schemes collapse, and Caspar tears up the marriage contract in public, banishing her forever. At her father's grave, Ella prepares to execute Victoria herself. Caspar admits he knew all along she was using him—and that he is glad to be her blade. Together, they end Victoria's life. And as the night lord takes his rightful throne, a new era of darkness begins—with Ella at his side.
