Victoria Beaumont, the sole heiress to Europe's most powerful financial dynasty, was driven out of her own biological family's home like a thief. After a night curled in a rainstorm, she made a vow: when she returns, no one will ever make her kneel again. Three years later, she comes back to Los Angeles as the true heiress of the Beaumont name. The woman who stole her designs loses her degree. The one who took her mother's necklace loses everything. And her three older brothers—who once sided with the adopted daughter and threw her out—finally learn the truth: the trophy their eldest brother cherished was restored by her now-crippled right hand; the lab cultures their second brother needed were kept alive by her all-night vigils; their third brother's debut poster was pieced back together by her, shard by shattered shard. Regret? She no longer cares. When she single-handedly drives the entire Hayes family into bankruptcy and watches her brothers get beaten by debt collectors, she leaves only one cold sentence: "They mean nothing to me anymore." The moment she turns and walks away, she is no longer the girl who once knelt and begged. She is Beaumont.
