Three years into Emily Carter’s marriage, the lakeside villa she had purchased in full before the wedding was occupied for an extended period by her husband’s younger brother and his family of four under the pretext of “temporary stay.” She was reduced to being an unpaid maid for the whole family, suffering endless torment from her mother-in-law and arbitrary bullying from her brother-in-law’s family. After being brutally humiliated in public by her brother-in-law, Emily finally woke up. She decided to stop settling, put a decisive end to that unbearable chapter of her life, and watched as her greedy relatives tore each other apart. Her former abusers ended up destitute and broken, while Emily, with her daughter in her arms, moved steadily forward into a new life bathed in sunlight.
