Anne, the only daughter of the Winthrop family, returns home discreetly. At the airport, she is mistaken for an imposter by her stepmother Sarah and stepsister Lexi, and is slapped, her clothes torn, and a photo of her deceased mother destroyed. After her true identity is revealed, Sarah and Lexi not only refuse to believe her but escalate their actions, stealing her necklace from a luxury store and smashing her heirloom emerald brooch—a symbol of her inheritance—at her birthday party. Anne publicly presents irrefutable evidence of the two women's fraudulent investment scheme, amounting to a nine-figure sum. The truth comes out, the perpetrators are imprisoned, and Anne takes over the family business.
