After the zombie apocalypse breaks out, ordinary introverted office girl Grace gets infected on purpose out of fear of pain. Miraculously, she retains full consciousness and all human memories, without the zombie urges to hunt or eat. Free from hunger, sleep and fatigue, she decides to fulfill her lifelong unachieved dream: traveling the whole world on foot with her camera to record scenery. During her journey, she narrowly escapes human zombie hunts and even gets buried alive by a female combat survivor Emma who mistakes her for a lifeless corpse. Grace keeps secretly aiding trapped humans: playing music to distract hordes of zombies, leaving medical supplies for survivors and rescuing a mother and child. Later, 16-year-old superpowered girl Raven tracks her, curious about her unusually weak stats yet gentle personality. On the road, Grace meets Noah, a mute red-eyed evolved teenage zombie who sticks to her wherever she goes. The two become inseparable travel companions. As they trek across the U.S., they cross paths with a kind human survivor group, a self-proclaimed zombie king who builds a civilized zombie community, and Noah’s long-lost little sister Ella. They travel through Las Vegas, the Golden Gate Bridge, Yellowstone, Seattle, cross Canada and reach the Atlantic coast. They encounter mutated beasts, chaotic zombie swarms and human survival conflicts. A research team later draws Grace’s blood to create zombie repellent. In the end, Grace, Noah and Ella camp on Florida’s beach, ready to sail overseas and continue their endless global adventure, their warm journey far from finished.
