To raise money for her first love's surgery, Cecilia signs a five-year contract with a tycoon, becoming a stand-in for Harold's unrequited love. When the contract expires and Harold returns, Cecilia is diagnosed with a terminal illness and decides to leave him. With nowhere to go, Cecilia learns that her first love, Brody, staged the car accident where he supposedly saved her, intending to sell her again for a higher price. The ailing Cecilia is further humiliated by Harold, harassed at work, persecuted by Harold's love interest Vivienne, and Harold's family, suffering immense hardship. However, a mysterious masked man repeatedly saves her from danger, offering her warmth. After a severe injury, Cecilia's heart condition worsens, and she "dies" in despair. Harold, upon learning the truth, is devastated and embarks on a vengeful rampage. Cecilia is resurrected after receiving a heart transplant from her sister. Harold discovers her true identity and relentlessly pursues her, enduring life-or-death experiences to atone for his sins. Cecilia also learns that Harold is the mysterious masked man who has protected her time and time again. In the end, Harold successfully steals the bride at the wedding, and the two reconcile and get back together.
