Selena, a low‑level secretary, is diagnosed with acute leukemia and has only three months to live; she completely lets loose, gets drunk, and has a one‑night stand with Wall Street tycoon Ethan. She tears off her cowardly mask, confronts her bullying boss and snobbish colleagues head‑on, and even puts a price on the tycoon's flirtatious advances. Ethan suffers from migraines that only Selena can relieve, so he proposes a contract marriage. As they spend time together, Ethan falls deeply in love and accidentally discovers her cancer diagnosis; he spares no expense in developing a miracle drug, battling his own family and her toxic relatives along the way. Eventually, he cures Selena, and the two break through barriers of class and life‑and‑death, ending up together in a happy, lasting union.
