Layla, a hybrid female werewolf, took the fall for her sister to save her dying foster father. Her fated mate—Alpha King Damon—sentenced her to exile in the lethal silver mines. There, in the darkness, she gave birth to his son alone, only to be told the baby had died. Five years later, she returns to the territory, her body scarred by silver burns. But instead of justice, she finds a deeper hell. To save his comatose fiancée Lily, Damon imprisons Layla as a "healing blood slave," draining her pure blood again and again. And the child she thought was dead—Finn—wanders into her life as a strange pup, recognizing his mother by instinct alone. When Lily awakens, she teams up with the real poisoner to murder Layla's foster father. Broken beyond words, Layla slashes her own wrist with a silver-dusted blade—severely cutting the fated bond between her and Damon. She would rather die than belong to him. The severed bond rips through Damon's soul. He finally uncovers the truth: Finn is his son, and Lily was the true culprit all along. He kneels before Layla, begging for forgiveness, proposing marriage, sobbing in regret. Her only answer: "I will never forgive you." In the end, Layla takes Finn by the hand and walks away from the territory without looking back. The invincible Alpha King is left with nothing—completely out of her life forever.
