Evelyn, the heiress to a shipping family fortune, is eight months pregnant and about to give birth when she falls into a deadly trap meticulously woven by her husband, Marcus. Marcus, in collusion with her private obstetrician Naomi, hires a double to impersonate her aunt Martha, and uses an overdose of sedatives to create the illusion of her mental instability, intending to stage a medical accident during her delivery to seize control of the port and the family fortune. Evelyn senses the danger and secretly contacts her adopted brother Elliott in Europe, using her wit to escape multiple times. Elliott returns home with an overseas shipping trust to seize power, thwarting all the villains' schemes. Evelyn safely gives birth to her child, reclaims everything, and begins a new life.
