Eva, a flight attendant, loved Captain Nick for five years. For three of those, she was his secret lover—but always a shadow. Nick believed another woman, Valerie, had saved his life. He forced Eva to copy Valerie's hair, her clothes, even her voice. In bed, he whispered Valerie's name. When a storm came, Nick kicked Eva out of his car to propose to Valerie. She watched from the rain as he knelt. Her heart died that night. She accepted a marriage proposal from Sebastian, Miami's richest man, and quit her job. Nick didn't care—until he discovered the truth: Valerie was a fraud. She had stolen Eva's identity, her rescue, her life. Nick destroyed Valerie and raced to Miami. He found Eva at her wedding altar. He pulled a gun. He took her. But Eva was no longer the woman who loved him. She exposed his cruelty, wrote a goodbye letter, and walked away forever. Nick spent the rest of his life watching from a distance—protecting a woman who would never love him back. In the end, Eva found peace in Sebastian's arms. And Nick found only silence.
