The great families of the city lived on blood contracts. Their wealth, their power, their very lives depended on the magic bound into their bloodlines. And the only one who could renew those contracts was Siren, the soul-summoning witch. The Smith family laughed at her. They insulted her. They refused to kneel. Their contract expired. The curse ate them alive in a single night. The Brown family was next in line. They begged Siren to save them. She agreed. She lit the Spirit Vein Lighthouse and let the world see who she really was. The Brown heir, Arthur, gave up everything to become her disciple. He left his fortune, his name, his future. He climbed into her yellow taxi. Together, they drove into the dark places where black magic bred. She was the master. He was the student. They were not hunting power. They were hunting the evil that had been feeding on the blood of the innocent. The road was long. The enemy was ancient. But Siren had a driver now. And Arthur had a purpose.
