Claire has loved her childhood neighbor Miles, a hockey captain who calls her only a "friend." When his team dares her to distract Finn, the rival star, Miles agrees. Claire brings Finn a bottle of water, expecting shame. Instead, blunt, protective Finn has noticed her since a film class and falls fast. As roommate Hannah stirs trouble and Miles suddenly wants her back, Claire sees she has settled for crumbs. She walks away, and Finn, who never needed years to know, walks toward her.
